RAINDROP THERAPY FOR HORSES WITH YOUNG LIVING ESSENTIAL OILS:
SEED TO SEAL
Equine Raindrop Technique or Therapy is a home remedies for horses modality that uses a combination of essential oils and holistic modalities to bring electrical balance and structural alignment to the horse's body.
From sore backs and muscles to Equine Lyme Disease, this technique can boost the immune system, detox the body and help most any equine health condition.
The Raindrop Technique was developed by Gary Young, ND a world known expert in the field of therapeutic grade essential oils and founder of Young Living Essential Oils. He originally designed this technique for those who had scoliosis of the spine but soon discovered that it had incredible benefits for everyone including animals! What is Equine Raindrop Therapy?
After Dr. Heather Mack, DVM watched Gary Young perform a Raindrop at a convention where a woman measured over a 1/2 inch taller after the session, she decided to modify the Raindrop Technique procedure to use the oils for horses; and coined the term Equine Raindrop Therapy.
Since then she has become an advocate of Raindrop for horses and recommends that it be performed once per month to keep the horses body structurally aligned and energetically balanced; as well as to combat horse illness and disease.
What are the Benefits of Equine Raindrop Therapy?
The benefits of equine raindrop are the same as humans. But there are specific horse conditions that holistic vets have been using Raindrop for very successfully. Here are a few:
Address emotional (horse emotions) and physical well being of the horse;
Prevent and combat sore backs and muscles before and after training and training;
Loosen muscles before chiropractor treatment;
Prevent illness during shipping and competition;
Help release toxins and boost immune system;
Help solve "mystery" lameness (usually emotional component present);
Treat Parasites (EPM in particular)
Lyme Disease in horses;
Prevent migration of and combat Strangles outbreak (and others); and
Other horses as well as those around the barn will benefit from the aroma of essential oils!
I wouldn't hesitate to use it to compliment treatment for horse cancer, founder or even abscess. Decreasing the toxic load on the body boosts the immune system and accelerates the healing process.
How is the Procedure Done?
Here is a quick overview:
  • The oil blend of Valor is placed on the poll, shoulders and sacrum to balance the energies of the physical and emotional body. It is also placed on all four feet.
  • On the coronet bands, Oregano and Thyme are placed where the meridians of the body end. A Vita Flex procedure is conducted also on the coronet bands to promote healing.
  • Essential oils of basil, wintergreen, cypress, and peppermint are placed on the inside of the hind legs. A Vita flex procedure is conducted on the leg which stimulates the spleen, liver and kidney meridians. This also may be conducted on the front legs if dealing with an imbalance of the small or large intestine; lung or heart meridians.

Equine Raindrop Technique Feather Stroking
  • Oils of oregano, thyme, basil, wintergreen, marjoram, Aroma Siez, marjoram, Aroma Siez, cypress and peppermint is applied to the spine from the base of the sacrum to the withers. Vita flex techniques are also applied to the spine to stimulate the healing work and allow the oils to go deeper into the tissue.

Lastly, a hot towel is applied to the spine for about five minutes. A light sheet or cooler is placed over the compress to keep the horse warm.

While the horse is enjoying the hot towel spa treatment, other work such as emotional release and vita flex can be done on the neck and poll!
Can I Ride my Horse Right after Treatment?
You probably can ride immediately after session if you absolutely have to; however, I find that it is best if the horse is not ridden for at least several hours. Most of the time, I perform the treatment after the horse is done for the day; then the horse can go back to regular work the next day.
As with humans, it will depend on the horse and the condition being addressed. If the horse is dealing with a severe condition such as EPM or Strangles, then you may see extreme detoxification and the horse may not be ridable for two days; but most horses dealing with these conditions are taking time off from training anyway.
A horse may be releasing toxins that hibernated along the spine up to seven days after the session so do make sure your horse is drinking plenty of water!

Young Living's Raindrop Technique Kit comes with everything you need to start doing Raindrops!
