Pros of Progesterone

0 POSTED BY  - OCTOBER 27, 2011 - ARCHIVE
Progesterone is a hormone found in both men and women that is generally associated with women’s health. It plays an important role in influencing menstrual cycles, pregnancy, and menopause. Genetic makeup, environmental influences, and other factors can negatively impact progesterone levels, which may lead to other imbalances in the body.
Progessence™ Plus serum, intended only for woman, is a good option for those looking to supplement progesterone levels. Expertly formulated by D. Gary Young and Dr. Dan Purser, Progessence Plus takes pure, USP-grade, super-micronized progesterone from wild yams and combines it with vitamin E and an essential oil serum to easily penetrate the skin for improved delivery. Containing frankincense, bergamot, and peppermint essential oils to aid in absorption, this product does not require the cycling of application sites as do most other progesterone products.
According to Dr. Purser, some of the common negative effects of menopause that adequate levels of progesterone can help support or minimize include:
  • Hot flashes
  • Night sweats
  • Fatigue
  • Insomnia
  • Increased wrinkles
  • Weight gain and muscle loss (sarcopenia)
  • Memory issues
For the remainder of the year, until December 31, 2011 Young Living is running a promotion for 10% off Progessence Plus serum. If you have ever thought about adding progesterone to your routine, now is the time to do it! As always, we would love to hear your feedback on Progessence Plus.

I had a PR, ER positive breast cancer and am experiencing night sweats/hot flashes post treatment. Would this be safe to use given my history?

Did the type of progesterone used in this oil change in 2015? I see that it contains wild yam extract. Is the extract modified to be identical to human progesterone?

    • Young Living DECEMBER 29, 2015 - 1:52 PMREPLY
Hi Kayla, The type of progesterone included in Progessence Plus™ Serum has not been changed. The progesterone in Prenolone Plus Serum is extracted from wild yam (Discorea opposita) and converted from diosgenin into USP (United States Pharmacopeia) Grade Micronized Progesterone. Thank you for dropping by with your questions.

  • Holly NOVEMBER 16, 2015 - 7:26 AMREPLY
I was wondering about using Progessence Plus with an IUD. The IUD put very a low dose of progesterone into the body. Is it not safe to use just like with other birth controls?

    • Young Living DECEMBER 11, 2015 - 11:39 AMREPLY
Hi Holly, Thanks for stopping by with your question. We would recommend consulting a health care provider with these questions.

I’ve been using P+ for months now and am very pleased with my results! My husband and I are wanting to have another baby, but I’ve read you shouldn’t use P+ while pregnant and in another place, I read it’s ok to use it while pregnant. Is this something only my doctor can tell me for sure? Also, if you shouldn’t take it during pregnancy, how soon should I stop using it?

Hi Lisa, Thanks for your questions. We would recommend speaking with your health care provider to determine what will be best for your needs specifically before and after conception. Thanks for stopping by!

  • Lesley OCTOBER 25, 2015 - 12:00 PMREPLY
I am 42 and started using Progessence Plus about two weeks ago. I have never had my hormone levels checked but tried this due to some changes in menstral cycle, lack of libidos, irritated more, lack of interest. I am otherwise healthy, ideal in weight, and sleep very well (maybe too well). I am wondering if I should have a hormone test done since I feel the symptoms are worse (have not had menstrual cycle yet). I use one to two drops on back of neck and feel like I’m in a fog even as I write this. Should I continue use or am I not using enough? Please help?

    • Young Living OCTOBER 28, 2015 - 2:48 PMREPLY
Hi Lesley, Sorry to hear about your situation. We recommend that you refer to the directions on the Progessence Plus label. The directions state, “Apply 2-4 drops two times daily on neck area. For added effect, apply 1-2 drops along forearms 2 times daily.” Also note that the dosage and duration of use for Progessence Plus may vary with each individual. We would suggest that you talk with your health care provider about this in order for her to assist you and determine what is right for your individual needs. We hope this information is helpful!

  • Tricia OCTOBER 13, 2015 - 2:55 PMREPLY
For a woman who is pre-menopause and still has regular menstrual cycles, can Progessence Plus be used every day, or should it only be used during part of the cycle? I know other progesterone creams instruct one to use it only during part of the cycle.

    • Young Living OCTOBER 22, 2015 - 2:06 PMREPLY
Hi Tricia, According to the label directions, Progessence Plus does not need to be cycled throughout the month. We would encourage you to discuss the use of the product with your personal health care provider to determine the appropriate dosage and duration of use to suit your individual needs. We hope this information is helpful!

  • Tricia OCTOBER 13, 2015 - 2:53 PMREPLY
I read on another website that the FDA is going to require a prescription for all progesterone products and therefor, progesterone creams and serums will no longer be able to be sold over the counter. Is this true?

    • Young Living OCTOBER 22, 2015 - 2:07 PMREPLY

One more thing, can you Use Clomid/Femara and Progessence Plus?
If someone can give me this information that would be great.

I take the Progessence Plus internally for about 4 years now. I do not experience any rashes or any other “complications”. I am hot flashes free, don’t wake up at night no more and feel great in the morning.
  • Dale Carney JANUARY 3, 2013 - 2:03 PMREPLY
I have found after 6 months of using Progessence Plus that i get a rash on my neck and some on my forearms and especially on my palms of my hands. I have never been prone to dermatitis before. Can i take Progessence Plus internally? Or should i use another product. It works for hot flashes but do not enjoy the rashes.

    • Patty MAY 21, 2015 - 7:42 AMREPLY
I just saw your comment posted on in January of 2013 regarding a rash after using Progessence Plus. Did you ever find a reason why this would have happened? I have a friend experiencing the same thing.

  • Catherine NOVEMBER 2, 2012 - 8:14 PMREPLY
Is it OK to take Progessence serum at the same time with the prenelone cream product ?
  • Kristy SEPTEMBER 4, 2012 - 11:54 PMREPLY
Just purchased this product but after purchase noted the cautionary statement about using it with birth control. What are the possible outcome should you combine the two? I do not necessarily want to go off the pill at this time. Is there a pill dosage of progesterone that is not worrisome? I know birth control pills have all different levels of progesterone.

Can you tell me what you saw about using it with the pill. I was wondering if there were any issues with this but can not find any mention of potential issues.
      Thanks

I posted on another Young Living distributor site and was referred to your blog. When using Progessence Plus Serum as directed (neck & inside forearms) I experience a rash. This rash will hang around for a good while & re-surface for probably a couple weeks (sometimes longer). I’ve stopped using the product for this reason.

I purchased a bottle of Progessence Plus recently and when I received it, was shocked to see this on the label: “WARNING: This product contains a chemical known to the state of California to cause cancer.” Before actually using this product, I would like an explanation of this warning and why you would use such a chemical in a Young Living product?

    • Young Living NOVEMBER 7, 2011 - 10:12 AMREPLY
This is on the label because we sell it in California and and they require it for all products containing progesterone. Our natural progesterone comes from the wild yam. I hope this answers your question.
    • Instant Results JANUARY 8, 2013 - 7:06 AMREPLY
I understand there is no chemical in Progessence Plus. Many people are confused between the natural progesterone, which occurs in the human body, versus the synthetic that are sold as hormone replacement solutions by pharmaceutical companies. Synthetic progesterone is quite different molecularly than natural progesterone. Since Proposition 65 disclaimer mandated that the warning appeared on the label,Young Living feels unfair to exclude California residents from the benefits of natural progesterone, so I understand YL elected to place the disclaimer rather than removing the natural progesterone.

I would love a Catalog. My sister just moved back to Texas from Orem, Utah and I used to love going to the stores and picking up the different items from the lavender farms. How much does it cost to sign up to sell?

Each country has different regulations regarding ingredients. This is generally the reason some products are not available in different markets.
